State Energy Program

RSS Feed

The Department of Energy (DOE) allocates and distributes funds to all states through the State Energy Program (SEP). DOE has issued a formula grant of $39.4 million for Arkansas for the purposes of:

  • stimulating the creation or increased retention of jobs,
  • saving energy,
  • increasing energy generation from renewable sources, and
  • reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Arkansas Energy Office (AEO), in consultation with the Governor, other state agencies, utilities, and related partner organizations, has selected 13 projects in Arkansas to be funded with this grant. The details of each project were submitted in a proposal to DOE on May 12, 2009. The AEO received approval of these projects on July 6, 2009 and has received the total award amount.
