Biological Monitoring – Macroinvertebrate Data

Macroinvertebrates are the aquatic and semi-aquatic insects, crustaceans, other arthropods, snails, bivalves, other mollusks, and worms that inhabit our freshwater ecosystems. They are relatively easy to collect and have diverse life history characteristics, pollution tolerances, and habitat requirements, which make them ideal for water quality monitoring. Through evaluating macroinvertebrate community structure, we address the question, "What life does this water support?", to infer localized water quality conditions.
